June 2005 - Present - Self Employed

In June 2005 I decided to "be my own boss" and registered self-employed and thus I became a freelance web developer. Having a number of friends in the industry helped a lot.

Since going freelance I have worked on a number of exciting projects including:

• Development of bespoke internet solutions
• Development of bespoke Content Management Systems
• Development of a bespoke eCommerce Solution
• Development of a system to generate Show Registration Plates
• Setup, Branding and Modifications to a number of discussion forums
• Website Rebuilds

...and many other smaller projects.

April 2003 to June 2005 - Infotech 24 7

Role : Senior Internet Developer

Infotech 24 7 Limited are a rapidly-growing internet design agency based in the Hartlepool in the North-East of England. Infotech 24 7 specialise in providing branded internet solutions to SME's.

My main role was that of a PHP developer. I worked on a number of in-house projects such as JobSearch, a Recruitment solution as well as working on their eCommerce solution - eKeeper 24 7.

During my time at Infotech 24 7 I also built numerous websites for their many clients - including celebrities such as Heather Mills McCartney and Ringo Starr.

I also had the opportunity of being one of the people who looked after the dedicated hosting servers, ensuring everything ran smoothly and when things did go wrong I would be involved in sorting the problems.

August 2000 to August 2001 - Dumfries & Galloway Council, South-West Scotland

Role : Internet Developer

A one-year industrial work placement as part of my degree programme. Working for Dumfries & Galloway Council, in the South West of Scotland, I spent my placement as a member of the Information Services department.

The majority of my work involved maintaining the council's Internet and Intranet websites as well as developing web based applications using a mixture of HTML, ASP and Access/SQL Server databases.

Skills Gained:

• Experience in a real-world working environment
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Practical application of ASP skills
• Client / Departmental Communication
